Waterside dining gets new look and new menu 31 July 2008
Waterside dining in Bedford is set for a shake-up now that a new restaurant along the Embankment is under new management.
The leasehold for the Charles Wells-owned Embankment Hotel has been bought by upmarket chain Peach Pubs Ltd.
The Embankment Hotel reopened last week after a two-day closure for a minor refurbishment.
Andrew Coath, director of the Peach Pubs, said: 'Bedford is a desert when it comes to good places for food and drink and we're really excited about the opportunities here.
'We will be carrying out further work later in the year, but until then we did some work to make the place feel fresher.
'The aim for this place is to provide simple, good quality food and drink. We want this to be a pub that has 18 posh rooms, and not a hotel.'
Later this year staff at The Embankment will be joined by a new head chef who trained with the Roux brothers. |
